Former EXO member Tao and his wife Xu Yiyang have announced that they welcomed a son in 2024, revealing the news during a Weibo livestream on October 16.
TV Daily reported on October 20 that Xu Yiyang shared family photos on Weibo and held a livestream, where she addressed the child’s birth after long-running speculation. The livestream was covered by Chinese media outlets including JiMu News on October 16.
The couple’s son was born in 2024 and is now over two years old. Xu Yiyang said the boy is slightly taller than children his age, and that Tao spends nearly all of his time with the family outside of work hours.
Addressing questions about the child, Xu Yiyang said, “We are both Chinese, and our child is also Chinese.” She also pushed back against rumors that the couple had used a surrogate: “The child was born via C-section, and the scar is in a place not visible even when wearing a bikini.”
Tao debuted with EXO in 2012 and left the group in 2015 to focus on his career in China. Xu Yiyang is a former SM Entertainment trainee who joined in 2014 and left the agency in 2018.
The couple married in December 2024 and have one son. No further comment from the couple’s agencies was available.
