Ryu Phillip has revealed he left for the United States without his wife, singer Mina, and has started a part-time cashier job at a restaurant in Georgia. The update came through a video posted October 16 on the couple’s YouTube channel, PhilMi Couple.
According to Newsen, the video follows his first day at work in Midtown, Georgia. “I’ll show you my first day of work in the city. I’m off to work,” he said at the start of the clip.
At the restaurant, he introduced it as the store where he was hired as a cashier and would work for a while. He spent the morning learning the register and taking breakfast orders, chatting with local customers in English. Trying the register alone, he was flustered by a customer’s fast English and called for help. Later, while cleaning the store, he confessed he had developed “English-phobia” and wondered whether he could adapt to life in America.
Ryu Phillip announced on September 28 that he was living in Atlanta, Georgia, apart from Mina. Explaining his sudden move, he said: “I’ve been under a lot of stress lately. Because of uncertainty about the future, I suddenly came to the US. I’m going to try to make a lot of decisions,” and apologized to his wife.
Mina and Ryu Phillip married in 2018, drawing attention for their 17-year age gap. After supportive comments flooded in, he wrote, “I sincerely thank everyone cheering me on.” Their next move remains to be seen.
