Choi Yena Announces Remake of Ai Otsuka's Iconic 2003 Hit 'Sakuranbo' for November Release cover

Choi Yena is giving a J-pop classic a fresh coat of color. The singer will release her remake of Ai Otsuka’s signature hit “Sakuranbo” on November 17 at 6 p.m. through major music platforms, according to a Sports Kyunghyang report.

Yena teased the project on social media, unveiling teaser images provided by SHgold Networks. One shows a glass brimming with cherries in a sweet pink palette that hints at the track’s playful energy, while a follow-up visual styled after Japanese animation carries the title “SAKURANBO.” Another shot evoking a magical-girl phone concept has raised anticipation for what image Yena will bring to the song.

“Sakuranbo” is Ai Otsuka’s representative song, released in 2003. Its bright, addictive melody has kept listeners hooked across generations, and Yena’s version reinterprets it with her own emotional touch 23 years later while preserving the original’s charm.

No official statement from her agency was included in the report.

The remake follows Yena’s recent digital single “A Rare Woman” with a rapper, and arrives as she juggles music with modeling work for liquor, gaming, wireless earbud, skincare, and colored-contact-lens brands.
