Australian model and fashion designer Sahara Ray, best known internationally as Justin Bieber’s ex-girlfriend, has died at age 34, just months after giving birth to her daughter.

According to OSEN, citing US outlets TMZ and Page Six, Ray passed away on the night of October 19 (local time) at a hospital, surrounded by her family. Her exact cause of death has not yet been revealed.

In a statement shared with TMZ, her family said, “She passed peacefully surrounded by her family. She was so loved,” expressing their grief.

Ray was the daughter of surfer Tony Ray. She became a household name in 2016 when she was spotted vacationing in Hawaii with Justin Bieber, with photos of the pair swimming nude making headlines around the world. In 2023, she also drew attention over dating rumors with singer Mod Sun.

Before her death, Ray had publicly shared a painful health battle. She revealed that after a car accident in April 2024, her body went into shock and she was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome, a rare autoimmune disorder. “I was paralyzed from the upper thigh down to my toes. I couldn’t walk at all,” she said in a TikTok video at the time, adding that she had been left wheelchair-bound.

Despite the illness, she embraced motherhood with joy. Ray gave birth to her daughter Snow this past January, and in April shared a warm video with her baby set to one of Bieber’s songs, captioning it “my everything, baby Snow.” Her last social media posts in July were photos of her daughter. Tributes have poured in, with close friend and model Becky Hurn writing on social media that Ray was “a pure person with a big heart” and asking her to rest in peace.

No further details on the cause of death were available as tributes from friends and fans continued.
