South Korean band Danpyeonseon Sungandeul has released its second full-length studio album, āLoversā (ģ°ģøė¤), two years after its award-winning debut.
Sports Kyunghyang reported on October 16 that the 10-track record follows 2024ās āEumak Manseā (ģģ ė§ģø), which took Album of the Year and Best Modern Rock Album at the 22nd Korean Music Awards.
The new album looks love square in the eye. Its title draws on two sources: the sixth card of the Tarotās Major Arcana, The Lovers, and poet Choi Seung-jaās poetry collection of the same name. Across ten tracks, the band treats love not as a single emotion but as an adventure ā joyful, wounded, funny, and sometimes unrecognizable even to the people feeling it. The title song appears in two different versions, and the record reworks āYeonaeā and āLove Songā ā songs from leader Danpyeonseonās earlier project ā for the current lineup. One track even samples the first movement of Vivaldiās āSpringā from The Four Seasons.
The rollout began September 10 with the pre-release single āBlizzard or Astigmatismā (ķģ¤ ķ¹ģ ėģ), a blend of samba, indie rock, and neo-psychedelia exploring loveās uncertainty.
āLove is the greatest adventure,ā Danpyeonseon says of the recordās theme, per the report.
The band will mark the release with a ā[Lovers] Showcaseā at Seoulās Hyundai Card Understage on October 31, performing with an expanded nine-piece lineup including flute, clarinet, percussion, and chorus. Tickets are on sale through Melon Ticket.
