Goo Sung-hwan introduced a friend 26 years his junior in the October 16 episode of MBC’s “I Live Alone,” which aired as the show faces allegations of staged scenes.
According to TenAsia, Goo showed off his new bike “Cucu,” bought with a license he earned after four attempts, and went riding with Park Tae-hwan, whom he met at a test center in January. “I failed in 10 seconds, and he’s a friend who failed even faster than me. Born in 2006, 21 years old,” Goo joked. The two have stayed close since, even keeping in touch with Park’s mother.
When Code Kunst remarked that befriending a 21-year-old isn’t easy, Goo recalled how Park reached out when his dog Kkot-bun-i died. “He called me crying at dawn, and I cried with him,” Goo said. He added, “He seems more mature than me,” expressing his gratitude.
The episode aired the same day Chosun Ilbo reported that filming permit documents given to a National Assembly office held a scripted scenario for Jeon Hyun-moo’s Kazakhstan trip — including the line, “I’ve been to China too many times — how about Kazakhstan?” MBC called it “a proposal for filming permission,” denying it ever “tried to direct based on that document or shared the contents with the cast.” It was the network’s fourth statement on the issue.
Despite the controversy, “I Live Alone” stayed No. 1 in non-drama program buzz, while cast member Kim Min topped the cast chart for a second straight week.
