MBC’s “I Live Alone” is facing fresh criticism after viewers spotted a crew member standing atop a bungee jump platform without any visible safety gear during the October 17 broadcast.

The episode featured comedian Goo Sung-hwan and an acquaintance attempting a bungee jump. While Goo’s terrified reactions drew laughs, the staff member holding the cord drew a different kind of attention: the worker stood on the release area with no safety belt, helmet, or fall-protection device, while Goo and his companion jumped fully harnessed.

A netizen who raised the issue on SNS on October 17 said the worker was on duty atop the platform without safety shoes, a helmet, or a high-altitude safety belt, yet stood on and released the bungee cord.

“If the cord had caught on a foot or slipped for a moment, it would have been truly chilling,” the netizen wrote, adding the scene starkly showed how serious workplace safety negligence is. Others echoed the concern: “I watched yesterday too and thought that gentleman had no safety gear at all - dangerous.” No official statement from MBC or the production team was available.

The backlash lands while the show is already reeling from August staging allegations over Jun Hyun-moo’s Kazakhstan trip, after suspicions that a pre-written script was shared for the filming permit. The team denied it, saying the document was only guideline material for the permit request to Incheon International Airport Corporation, and that Jun never received or saw it.
