Lee Jin-wook Confirmed as Veteran Forensic Pathologist in tvN's 2027 Mystery Medical Drama 'Unnatural' cover

Lee Jin-wook has been confirmed to star in tvN’s upcoming mystery medical drama “Unnatural” (working title), playing veteran forensic pathologist Gu Seung-hyuk, MyDaily reported on October 22.

“Unnatural” is set at U.D.I., a fictional autopsy and forensic institute affiliated with the National Forensic Service, where forensic scientists work to uncover the truth hidden behind unnatural deaths.

Gu Seung-hyuk is a cold, tightly guarded character who never shows his emotions in front of others, earning him the nickname “Jeoseunghyeok” inside U.D.I. Always expressionless and cynical, he keeps everyone at a distance.

With more than 3,000 autopsies under his belt, Gu completes postmortems in a remarkably short time while never missing even the faintest trace left on a body, no matter the distraction.

The role marks a turn for Lee, who has previously played detectives and lawyers chasing the truth from the center of a case. This time he examines crimes through the traces left by death itself.

The production team said, “Lee Jin-wook’s signature cool atmosphere and restrained emotional expression will create perfect synergy with Gu Seung-hyuk,” adding, “We ask for your interest in the Lee Jin-wook-style Gu Seung-hyuk, who will delicately express even the subtle emotions hidden behind an expressionless face.”

“Unnatural” is scheduled to premiere on tvN in 2027.
