Song Joong-ki and his wife Katy Louise Saunders offered a rare glimpse into their family life in Italy, gifting handmade olive oil from the couple’s first harvest to broadcaster Choi Hwa-jung.
The gift surfaced in a video uploaded on October 15 to Choi’s YouTube channel “Hello, This Is Choi Hwa Jung,” in which she shared five Greek yogurt breakfast recipes. While cooking, Choi pulled out a bottle of olive oil and said, “Joong Ki gave this to me as a gift,” explaining that it was made from olives harvested in Italy by the couple themselves.
“He told me it was the olive oil from their first harvest in Italy with his wife,” Choi said. “The two of them harvested it together. It’s so precious.” The beige packaging was decorated with a drawing of two children climbing a ladder, which Choi said represented the couple’s two children.
Choi, who normally takes olive oil only on an empty stomach, made a special exception and used it in her dish, remarking on its different fragrance before thanking the Joong-ki family.
Song has previously said he works in Korea while the family lives in Tuscany, Italy, and takes pride in oil pressed from his own olive trees. He married the British former actress in 2023, and the couple welcomed a son that year and a daughter in Rome in November 2024.
