TEMPEST is bringing its group activities to an end four years after debut, the group’s agency YH Entertainment announced on October 20.
MBC News reported the news on Tuesday afternoon, publishing the agency’s full official statement on the decision.
In the statement, YH Entertainment said, “After thorough and thoughtful discussions with the members over a long period, we have made the decision to conclude group activities and focus on each member’s individual endeavors moving forward.”
The announcement lays out diverging paths for the members. Hyuk will enlist for his mandatory military service on October 26, while Lew’s exclusive contract with YH Entertainment expires on November 1, 2026, at which point he will leave the agency.
The four remaining members — Hanbin, Hyeongseop, Eunchan, and Taerae — will stay with YH Entertainment and shift to individual activities, with the company pledging to fully support them as they present new sides of themselves.
TEMPEST debuted on March 2, 2022 under Yuehua Entertainment’s Korean arm YH Entertainment as a seven-member boy group that included Produce 101 Season 2 alumni Lew (Lee Eui-woong) and Hyeongseop. Member Hwarang departed the group in August 2024, after which TEMPEST continued promotions as a six-member act.
The agency asked fans not to visit Hyuk’s enlistment site, noting it will be shared with other enlistees and their families, and closed by thanking fans for their love and apologizing for the unexpected news.
